An English study reveals that the lifespan of overweight dogs was significantly shorter compared to dogs of normal weight.
Here, feeding the dog plays an important role. Over half of all dog owners overfeed their dogs and 22% of them say that they overfeed their animals to make them happy.
HERE ARE SOME TIPS ON WHAT YOU CAN DO TO KEEP YOUR PET AT A HEALTHY WEIGHT:
- Talk to your vet about your dog's weight and what the ideal weight should be.
- Make sure your dog gets enough exercise depending on size and breed.
- Skip most leftovers from the dinner table. Only give leftovers if they are lean meats or vegetables that your dog can tolerate.
- Weigh your dog! Even small weight gains have an impact on health.
