Dental cleaning at the vet can be a rather expensive affair - so here are some tips to prevent it:

1. KEEP AN EYE ON THE TEETH - THROUGHOUT LIFE. It is important to keep an eye on your dog's teeth throughout their life, from puppyhood when some may have problems with puppy teeth that do not fall out on their own, to the adult dog's teeth, where some develop tartar surprisingly quickly, while others have "fine" teeth their entire lives.

2. CREATE A FIXED HABIT. Brush your dog's teeth every day. It is very important to teach your dog this routine from puppyhood. Brushing once in a while is not enough, because tartar will build up anyway.

3. CHOOSE THE MOST OPTIMAL TIME. For example, choose to brush your dog's teeth before a meal, so that the dog's thoughts are on food instead of brushing their teeth.

4. BEFORE YOU START BRUSHING YOUR DOGS. Before you start a brushing routine, check your dog's teeth thoroughly. They should be completely clean when you start. Tartar that has already formed cannot be removed by brushing alone, so a dental cleaning by the vet may be needed before starting the new routine. If in doubt, always consult your vet. When the teeth are free of tartar, you can prevent and save both your dog and your wallet on dental cleanings in the future.

5. BUY THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT. Use a toothbrush for the purpose and a dog toothpaste. It is also a good idea to get a finger toothbrush, which can reach the more difficult places in the dog's mouth. I link to a few things below.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN STARTING TOOTHBRUSHING IS PATIENCE AND TIME. IT SHOULD BE A REST FOR THE DOG/PUPPY AND NOT BE SEEN AS A PUNISHMENT, BECAUSE THEN IT OFTEN DOES NOT WORK.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR TOOTHBRUSHING🪥🪥🪥
